Blood Purification & Skin Healing

Rakta Mokshan & Jaluka

Rakta Mokshan is the ancient Ayurvedic blood-letting therapy using therapeutic leeches (Jaluka) to purify vitiated blood, remove accumulated toxins, and resolve deep-rooted skin and circulatory conditions. This painless therapy activates the body's healing intelligence through micro-suction, restoring healthy blood circulation and eliminating the pathogenic blood that causes psoriasis, eczema, acne, and inflammatory conditions.

Benefit Summary

  • Complete skin clearing: Psoriasis, eczema, and acne resolution
  • Blood purification and detoxification at the cellular level
  • Improved circulation, reduced inflammation, and skin radiance

The Clinical Pathway

01

Dosha Assessment

A thorough examination determines the underlying dosha imbalance (typically Pitta or Rakta aggravation), the extent of blood vitiation, and the specific skin condition. Treatment location and leech count are customized to the individual condition.

02

Leech Application

Sterile, therapeutic leeches are applied directly to the affected area or relevant marma points. The leech's saliva contains natural anticoagulants and therapeutic compounds that purify blood while drawing out vitiated, pathogenic blood through painless micro-suction.

03

Post-Treatment Healing

After leech removal, antiseptic herbal pastes are applied to prevent infection and accelerate healing. The body enters deep regeneration mode, rebuilding healthy blood and skin tissues. Most conditions require 4-8 sessions for complete resolution.

Clinical Indications

Chronic Skin Diseases

Psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, eczema, and chronic urticaria unresponsive to conventional treatment.

Inflammatory Skin Conditions

Severe acne, rosacea, and inflammatory papules from blood stasis and Pitta excess.

Circulatory Disorders

Varicose veins, thrombosis, and localized blood stasis causing pain or tissue damage.

Hypertension & Blood Heat

High blood pressure and heat-based conditions from vitiated Rakta dhatu.

The Patient Experience

You will lie in a comfortable treatment bed in a calm, therapeutic environment. Sterile leeches are gently placed on affected areas—the process is painless. After the leech attaches, you experience a mild sensation of pressure and relief as it draws out vitiated blood. Most patients report a sense of profound healing, lightness, and improved skin appearance within 24-48 hours of treatment.

  • Expert Insight

Dr. Patki notes: "Rakta Mokshan is one of the most powerful therapies in Ayurveda for stubborn skin diseases because it directly removes the pathogenic blood causing the disease. Unlike topical treatments that suppress symptoms, Jaluka therapy addresses the root corrupted blood, allowing new, pristine blood to regenerate. Patients with decade-old psoriasis have achieved complete clearing with this therapy."

    Home Remedies for Skin Healing

    Turmeric-Neem Paste

Ingredients: 1 tbsp turmeric powder, 2 tbsp neem powder, coconut oil

Apply topically post-Rakta Mokshan. This ancient paste heals wounds, prevents infection, and accelerates skin regeneration from within.

    Cool Manjistha Decoction

Ingredients: 1 tsp Manjistha powder, 1 cup water, honey

The classical Rakta purifier. Boil, cool, and drink daily. This herb rebuilds healthy blood tissue and prevents vitiation.

    Cooling Pitta Tea

Ingredients: Coriander, fennel, rose petals, coconut water

Drink cool herb water 2-3 times daily post-treatment to cool internal heat and support blood purification.

    Aloe Vera Gel

Ingredients: Fresh aloe vera gel (organic, pesticide-free)

Apply cool aloe topically 2-3 times daily to soothe inflamed skin, accelerate healing, and regenerate skin tissue.

Daily Tips for Skin & Blood Purity

    Cool Water Bathing

Take cool baths daily (not cold ice baths). This cools Pitta, calms inflammatory skin reactions, and purifies blood naturally.

    Avoid Direct Sunlight

Limit sun exposure post-Rakta Mokshan for 3-5 days. UV light aggravates Pitta and can cause post-healing hyperpigmentation.

    Pitta-Cooling Diet

Eat cooling foods: leafy greens, cucumbers, coconut, citrus. Avoid spicy, oily, fried, and heating foods.

    Gentle Skincare

Use only organic, herbal skin products. Avoid harsh chemicals, soaps, and exfoliants post-therapy for 2 weeks.

    Early Sleep

Sleep by 10 PM for optimal skin healing. The skin regenerates most actively during hours 10 PM-2 AM (Pitta period).

    Stress Management

Practice meditation and pranayama daily. Mental Pitta aggravations trigger skin flare-ups—calm the mind to heal the skin.
